Have you ever heard a home theater system that made a movie sound so real you wanted to take cover during a shootout, but the price made you cringe or walk away? Instead of telling yourself “Maybe someday…” check out what RSL speakers can do.

We have broken the price barrier on high-end home theater speakers, making realistic surround sound more affordable than ever before. How we did it is simple:

First, we used our exclusive Compression Guide Technology (C.G.T.). C.G.T. is an advance in modern speaker tuning, that literally pulls sound out of the speakers and brings it to life all around you. Second is our direct pricing. We have no expensive stores and by eliminating dealer and middlemen profit, the savings to you are enormous. Third, is our 40-year reputation for designing and manufacturing great-sounding speakers that are built to last.

Expensive 5.1 ht systems are available just about everywhere, from large chains to pricey home theater boutiques. Making 5 high-end speakers and a quality sub sell for an affordable price is always a challenge. Common practice is to replace the speakers’ high end parts with lower cost alternatives. Most competitors feel with 5 speakers operating at once, it’s much harder to distinguish the reduction in individual sound quality. We do not share this approach. Our C.G.T. provides higher quality sound at a low price so that each speaker in our system is considered top-of the line with the highest quality parts. This is why we believe our home theater systems to be the best value and we’re willing to guarantee it.

Our 5.1 home theater system includes 5 small easily placeable speakers that provide a sound field that’s larger than that of most floor-standing speakers. C.G.T. results in clearer imaging, making each sound realistic and distinguishable. The bass is handled by our Speedwoofer 10, which blends perfectly with the other speakers picking up precisely where they leave off. Its C.G.T. produces smoother, faster bass with plenty of available power. You’ll never be able to tell that there’s a separate subwoofer.

Our goal in designing this home theater system was to “take you there” like no other comparably priced system can. With movies, you’ll hear every detail as well as experience the intense, but highly accurate bass capabilities of our Speedwoofer 10. With concerts, you’ll actually feel that the sound approaches that of being their live.

Buy With Total Peace of Mind

You’ve read why we feel our speakers are the best value. Now it’s time to convince yourself with our risk-free guarantee. If for any reason, you’re not completely 100% satisfied, send them back for a full refund. We’ll even cover the return shipping and you’ll never have to worry about restocking fees. Now that’s peace of mind.

Compact Speaker Reviews

By Mark Fleischmann, Home Theater Magazine • Posted: Dec 29, 2011

“The RSL CG4 and CG24 made a gratifying first impression that never wavered as they journeyed through content with the unflappability of an experienced traveler. They were coherent from top to bottom”

“The balance among midbass, midrange, upper midrange, and high frequencies was everything one could hope for.”

“Bass integration between satellites and sub was seamless.”

“…..the RSL system delivered the goods with as little listening fatigue as I’ve ever had with any high-resolution speakers delivering a noisy movie.”

“It was hard to believe I was listening to loudspeakers driven by an amplifier.”

“I fell in love with it from the first moments I listened to it.”

“…a product can achieve a five-star performance rating only if it is “reference quality.” This speaker handily qualifies.”

“It got the best out of everything I used to audition it. Wow, wow, and wow again.”

“…the price/performance ration for these compact speakers sold direct on the Internet is through the roof.”

The SoCal speaker kings are back — and performing above their size and price point once again

By Daniel Kumin, Sound & Vision Magazine | Posted September 20, 2011

“The RSL sats sounded tight and honest.”

“The CG4 was accurate and well defined on voices and instruments, without any distinct coloration or bias. I found its sound to be open, crisp, and perhaps just the tiniest shade “forward” over the top octaves, but still even and unforced, making for an airy, detailed presentation.”

“I was halfway through Harry Brown’s credits before I realized that the RSL system had simply delivered the cinema-sound goods, left, right, and center (and surround).”

“Whatever I played, the system continued to deliver clarity and unforced detail.”

“Listening to the Corigliano (and other music) in surround proved satisfying, too. The surround-channel CG4s did not “flashlight” ambient sounds, while the front pair locked up with the center CG24 to form a truly seamless front stage.”

“RSL has a very, very good small speaker system here. …..it performs, without fuss, at a level higher than most at this price point. disregard physical size; for this kind of performance, it’s a bargain.”

PRODUCT REVIEW: RSL COMPRESSION GUIDE SPEAKERS

AFTER TWO DECADES, THE NEW RSL CG SPEAKERS COME WITH A SURPRISE IN EVERY BOX

January 14, 2011 By Home Entertainment Editorial Staff - Mark Elson

“I was able to pick up subtleties I had not previously heard. If speakers are windows into the music, these windows were squeaky-clean.”

“James Taylor was present in the room with his characteristic vocal insinuations, accents and humor intact... outside the box.”

“with the RSL CG24 Studio Monitor, the ground rules of performance versus price are about to change.”

“At no time was the sound fatiguing nor was there any smear or lack of definition among all those layered sounds coming from the CG system.”

“All in all, this was pretty amazing performance from a $750 subwoofer (RSL Speedwoofer 10).”

“The system imaged wider than anyone had a right to expect, including vertically.”

“the Rogersound Labs Compression Guide speakers represent the same outstanding value and performance that they did decades earlier.”

Hands On: RSL Compression Guide Speakers

An old speaker company is reborn.

April 14, 2011 | by Grant Clauser, Electronic House Magazine

“The RSLs created a very rich, three-dimensional soundstage that seemed larger than such small speakers should be able produce.”

“On movie soundtracks, the system also performed well. Once again I was impressed with the fullness of the presentation.”

“After spending a couple of weeks tossing a wide variety of music and movies through the speakers, I packed them up very impressed with what a $2,075 sub/sat system could deliver.”

Compression Guide (CG) Stereo System

Reviewed by Michael Wechsberg, Positive Feedback

"The first thing I noticed when I sat down for serious listening was that the speakers completely disappeared. This fundamental and sought-after characteristic of all music systems is hard to achieve, especially at this price range and often at much higher price ranges.”

“The speakers threw a wide and deep image with great definition throughout the soundstage. This has always been an advantage of small satellites but often falls apart when the subwoofer is added. Not so with the RSLs.”

“Vocal music, both male and female, was full with plenty of midrange detail.”

“I played some big symphony works and they sounded wonderful from the deepest bass to the highest highs. The system was especially good at portraying hall acoustics faithfully. I was very conscious of the acoustics in the silent spaces between cuts or movements.”

“But the best thing about this speaker system is the way music literally leapt out of the speakers. Its not that they had an exaggerated front and center perspective but the timing and pace of the music were so palpable it was hard to sit still. I found myself playing the RSLs much louder than I usually listen because the music just didn't want to stay inside the speakers. It wanted to come outside and boogie. At the same time slow and quiet songs and movements drew you inside to enjoy the terrific detail.”

“I really believe the star of the RSL CG system is the Speedwoofer™ 10. Once properly set up it delivered strong, deep and dynamic bass with truly excellent detail. In my main system I use a subwoofer that costs 3 times the RSL yet does not go as deep with the same level of detail.”

“RSL gets "it", that listening to music should be fun and you will have fun with these speakers.”

“Even if you are willing to spend twice as much you should listen to the CG Stereo System.”

“You are sure to enjoy all your old recordings more than ever before.”

I have had my RSL speakers for 4 months now, and the only reason I have not written a testimonial before now is because I have been too busy spending hours on end enthralled in front of my home theatre. I do not pretend to be an audiophile, or particularly knowledgeable when it comes to audio equipment, but I do know that the ear to ear grin I got when first listened to your speakers (Beethoven's 9th) is enough to tell me that I have a superior product in my home. All of the terms that people throw out when talking about high end audio that I took for marketing nonsense suddenly began to make sense. Every time I sit to watch a movie or listen to music I think of what a wonderful gift you have given me in your speakers. But what really separates RSL from anyone else is the unbelievable customer service your company provides. I believe you guys are truly in the business because you are passionate about what you do and not for profit, and I can honestly that I have never had a better buying experience in my life. RSL will be the only speakers I ever intend to buy, ever, which I think says more then anything else.

To break in the speakers I had run a 25 hertz tone through them over night for a couple of nights. This pretty well broke in the woofers but apparently not the tweeters. When I set them up for some serious listening there was still a nasty stridency in the upper midrange. That had me worried.
After playing full-range music through the speakers for a couple of days while at work -- as you recommended -- that nastiness disappeared. The speakers now sound just as the reviewers had said, and as I had hoped. The balance is pretty much perfect and, like expensive studio monitors, the RSLs reveal differences between recordings that I hadn't heard with my previous speakers.
I'm building a collection of blu-ray opera and jazz recordings (good recordings are still pretty scarce) and these speakers, along with my NAD receiver, provide just the kind of musical experience I was looking for. There definitely is something to your Compression Guide tuning. The midrange sounds remarkably natural and balanced -- neither forward nor recessed.
I'm amazed at how full the bass sounds, even without a subwoofer. I played them most of one evening without the subwoofer and the RSLs sounded surprisingly balanced and complete. I had to check a couple times to make sure the subwoofer was still turned off. Turning on the subwoofer only added that bit of floor shake that had been missing at the bottom.
I've auditioned and purchased many speakers during my several decades of fascination with hi-fi, home audio and home theater. Considering the price and value, the RSLs are easily the best purchase I've ever made.

I wanted to let you know I have set up the two front speakers and the sub woofer and had to test it out, I just couldn't wait for all 4 speakers to be wired up. I listened to a live DVD concert of David Gilmour with Dolby 5.1 surround selected and I was completely blown away. I hurried and put in a Blu-ray movie, Superman Returns (excellent music sound track and a few good rumbling scenes) and before I knew it, I had watched the whole movie simply because I was drawn into the sound. One scene where Superman's meteorite is rumbling past Ma Kent's house shook her house, and shook mine too!
I also wanted to say I enjoyed reading the entire RSL Owner's Manual, maybe the only time I've ever read an entire manual in my life. I also had a friend over to check out the speakers tonight. His comments were nothing but the highest praise. He even made specific mention that even though he see's the speakers, he doesn't hear sound coming directly from the speakers, and how impressed he was by the wall of sound he was experiencing. He also couldn't believe the quality of the subwoofer, he even got down close to see if the bang of the movie was coming from that specific box, since it flowed so smoothly with the rest of the sound.
I am more than ecstatic using these speakers, and I can't thank you enough.

Here is the best way I can describe my satisfaction, and, then my wife's satisfaction with the speakers:
When I first used them, I decided to put on an Eric Clapton DVD to see how everything sounded. I really wanted to listen to only one song but I couldn't stop listening. I did manage to grudgingly get myself back to my work after I had listened to half the disc. Obviously, the speakers were great.
Now, for my wife. First, I told her to listen to the first 10 minutes of Beverly Hills Cop III. I didn't think it was such a good movie, nor did she, but she insisted on watching the whole movie. The movie sound was certainly attention grabbing. Then, we listened to a Barbra Streisand DVD. Her voice was coming smack-dab (as we used to say in the South) out of her mouth and was as beatiful as if we were there. But, alas, again, we couldn't stop watching until the disc had finished.
I appreciate all of your help and advice on the speakers and the setup.

This is a very impressive "speaker system", not just 6 speakers but an integrated set of 4 surrounds, a center speaker, and a terrific subwoofer. They all blend together to give excellent clarity and realism to a variety of music and Blu-Ray movie sound tracks. These speakers quickly became the heart of my sound system which consists of an Onkyo Tx-SR875 A/V receiver, 52" Samsung HDTV, and an Oppo BDP-83 Blu-Ray DVD player. Their beautiful gloss black finish and grills look quite nice with surrounding furniture and decor items. Adds an unsuspecting plus to the purchase.
Saw an ad in Home Theater magazine which lead to my call with Howard Rodgers. He agreed to send me the center speaker first (freight free)to try out. Immediately heard the improvement (as did my daughter and two friends) between it and the existing KEF # HST-HTC-5001z center speaker purchased in 2008. Proceeded to order the rest of the speakers.
I used RSL's suggested 100 hz crossover frequency so the subwoofer didn't sound distinguishable, set the A/V receiver to neutral and ran a good quality RCA cable to the LFE input. Note also that all other speakers have good quality and size speaker wire terminal nuts that are easy to get to, unlike many small speakers on the market. Making set-up much easier.
Had a problem with humming noise from the subwoofer and called Howard for his thoughts since all options in “trouble-shooting” section failed to solve the problem. One suggestion was to try a 2 prong adaptor plug on their grounded power cord prior to plugging it into the wall outlet. It was, as he thought, the result of a 60 cycle grounding problem with my house current feeding back to the sub and causing the humming noise. Result: hum gone and problem solved. Great customer support and genuine willingness to help.
Absolutely thrilled with all of the speakers and their top-quality sound reproduction and accuracy. But best of all, the subwoofer with its remote control capabilities, great feature. I have not heard a sub this good at over twice the price. My thanks to Howard and RSL for making my home theater system sound as rich and beautiful as it now does.
