Mike about  RSL Studio Monitor System:
January 19, 2012
So far, I'm clearly impressed with what I'm starting to hear. Although, I'm still breaking in the monitors, the frequency response seems exceptional. I'm working on a mix that I was producing prior to receiving the CG24's. After spending some time with the monitors, I remixed the song to demo for translation purposes. I can already hear that frequency balance and quality is much improved. Plus, I am hearing performances with much more clarity, as tonal qualities are much more true. Voices, Acoustic instruments, and other mid range parts are present and transparent... I'm enjoying working with them!

"ALL I CAN SAY IS , WOW!!!"
The saying, "If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is" Well you can throw that away here. This home theater system is a thing of beauty. Right out of the box the black luster is stunning.
But i didn't buy them for their looks, so the sound. The clarity the imaging the realism, its as if you were in a state of the art theater right in your own living room. You can here all of the musical instruments, each defined and separate. WOW!!! These little guys pack a punch. You would think you'd have to pay 10x this amount to get this kind of sound quality , but RSL has made it affordable. Thank you.
Now for the icing on the cake, the sub, "WOW"!!! This is what brings every thing to life. This thing is unreal, phenomenal even, everything you could ever ask of a subwoofer and more for thousands less. Spot on RSL great job!!! Thank you for making it possible for us to have this kind of quality at such an affordable price. I will be buying 2 more CG4 to make my 5.1 into a 7.1 very soon.

I cannot adequately express how happy I am with the Speedwoofer 10. It has brought my Vandersteen speakers to life! The imaging is markedly improved as is the clarity of the instruments. The low tones are rich and appear to emanate from the Vandersteen speakers, not from the Speedwoofer. I don't see any need now to purchase a more expensive amplifier, so you could say purchasing the Speedwoofer has saved me money. Thank you for making a great audio product that people with a regular income can afford.

Wow what a great speaker. The imaging and over all sound from this small speaker is completely accurate. When I listen to pieces of music that I have recorded and mixed, I am finally hearing what was actually going on in the studio. This is not true for other speakers I have listened to my music on, as they all seem to add coloration to the recording.

What a Paradox of a speaker, huge accurate sound in a little box. They should of named the series Paradox because it is a huge sound for a little price

I have this speaker as my center channel. It's small and light enough that I can put it on the shelf above my plasma TV but its sound is unparalleled. It replaced a much larger and heavier AR speaker (from when AR still meant something) and sounds far better.

The best description I can give of it was when I was tuning my system for the room. When it came time to tune the center channel, I was startled when the sound seemed to come out of nowhere. It didn't appear to come from the speaker itself, rather it seemed to emanate from some large, amorphous region vaguely in the direction of the speaker. In the first instant, I couldn't identify where the sound was even coming from until I realized that it was the center channel.

Very impressive.

Advantages: Small size, excellent sound.

I LOVE my new RSL speakers. I grew up admiring my uncle's RSL's in the 80's. I can't believe I get to have my own set now. Only one word comes to mind when you try to grasp the quality of the sound that emanates from these speakers--UNBELIEVABLE. I've gone back and watched all of my action movies and concert DVD's again!! Unbelievable....really! You can't go wrong.. Thank you RSL.

The CG4 satellites and the Speedwoofer 10 are very well matched and they do play loud but they also play very well soft. The imaging with the tiny satellites is very clear without resorting to exotic cabinet shapes and there is a smooth sweetness to the high end. I have had a pair of RSL Studio Monitor 3600 speakers and still have a pair of RSL CG-8 squared tower speakers (over 100 lbs. each) and this new set presents a very similar sound to both of them. The traditional clean, open, accurate, RSL sound that made RSL's so popular as studio monitors in the 80's is still there. These speakers could be combined with vintage RSL speakers in a theater setup and blend right in. The difference is that these speakers are much easier to find space for in the living room and these speakers are even more clean, open, and accurate than the compression guide speakers of the 90's. The impression of there being a speaker box is also reduced even more. As for other speakers, try them out and compare them to other speakers costing $8,000 a pair as I have and you will not be disappointed. With the money saved you can buy better electronics and more music. Yes, I have recommended them to my friends.

This is plenty of subwoofer for even a 20' by 30' room. What sets this one apart is the speed. For acoustic music, the bass just fits right in as in real life. There is no impression of there being a subwoofer. For electronica it almost sounds wrong. The big bass does not ooze and boom out after the beat as it does in every good dance club. Instead it is right there fast, crisp, and clean. I have never heard a subwoofer as fast and clear as this one. It is clearly more musical than my previous $2000, 1000W model.

This subwoofer is very accurately named as it delivers a very quick and tight response from deep bass all the way thru mid-bass. In my home theater set up I have had to turn down the bass spl compared to my previous sub as the punchiness delivered shakes the furniture too much. Because of that I now hear all kinds of mid-bass that was not present before.

I recently purchased your RSL CG4 2 Way Satellite Speakers AND a pair of WS31 OmniMount 31" tall Speaker stands. I am pleased to say that my entire transaction process - from calling to ask for information, to receiving the incredibly well-packed products, to setting it all up and finally listening - was a pleasure. I spoke to the founder's son, who was incredibly knowledgeable and articulate. I am not a techie-type "audio-phile" but do love music, and happen to have a hearing disability, making it critical that speakers deliver a strong, clear, consistent sound that does not blow-out my hearing aids. I was not looking for "boom box" sound. The "high range" is especially difficult for me to hear, and the speakers deliver on that point also. So: listening to my new speakers, which perch gracefully on their very own stands, is giving me ultimate listening pleasure. They sound clear and alive to me and I am enjoying every minute of listening, every day. And I have finally been able to say, "I got what I paid for." And a lot more. I know this company will stand by their products. It is easy to give the speakers a +5 rating.

After several months of usage, I am happy to report that the perfectionist engineer in me is extremely satisfied with my RSL 5.1 Home Theater Speaker system. The quality in construction and design was immediately evident out of the box and the exceptional sound has exceeded my expectations. The CG4 speakers (two front, two surround), one CG24 (center) and the Speedwoofer 10 are all worthy of five star ratings. Teamed with an Onkyo TX-NR708 receiver and a Blu-ray disc player, the RSL speakers provide an amazing sound experience for movies, television, and all types of music.

In the past I've never used a sub in my studio for mixing, as I usually get an inaccurate bass transmission when I take the product out of my studio, but it's nice to have the extra bottom when needed. I find it easy and accurate to build my stereo image while mixing and it gives me a very natural listening environment - not over hyped and I'm able to do long hours without ear fatigue. I would also like to add that the remote control is very convenient.

I own a 5.1 system that consists of three RSL CG24 (Front Right, Front Left, Center) and two CG4 (SL, SR) 5 stars for a system as whole.
Compared with other brands that my friends own I have been proud of my investment, paid less too. When my buddies come by, they are astonished by my sound system and how such small speakers can sound so great.
When watching movies the details are good, speech is clear; now I have no reason to go to a movie theater. Once in a while I play music very loud and even then, no distortion heard. Now all my music sounds in a whole different way, with details that I never heard before.
I'm glad that RSL is back in business with their new line of speakers. Keep up great the products and service!!!

Brian about  RSL CG Stereo System:

I've been listening to, and evaluating the RSL CG4 and RSL Speedwoofer 10 combination for just over a month now. I should mention to start with, that I prefer listening in a nearfield speaker positioning set-up, with as many feet as possible and practical, between the speakers and the wall behind them. I've found that the RSL monitors work especially well with this type of arrangement, revealing an amazingly wide, (and by wide, I mean often several feet outside of each monitors position), and seemingly effortless reproduction of height, and depth, to the back wall. Having said that, one of my preferred tests of how how specifically MUSICAL a speaker's reproduction can be is by playing an early stereo recording. For this, I used jazz saxophonist Art Pepper's 1957 album "Art Pepper Meets the Rhythm Section". This recording has sax imaged at hard left, and piano, bass and drums at hard right, with very little depth imaging. With eyes closed, I had no sense that I was listening to music emanating at left and right speaker face, although that is pretty much what this recording requires the speakers to do. The saxophone sounded open and completely free of coloration, and the other instruments, despite being all crammed together at far right, seemed to float effortlessly, and separately, in space. The Speedwoofer 10 was very impressive here, providing convincing, full bass on the right channel, with no sense of separation between sub and monitors, despite the fact that I have the sub positioned 6 1/2 feet behind the CG4's. BTW, the sub's remote adjustable volume control became instantly addictive with me, and essential.

In the last 30 years I've owned long list of speakers, including the various versions of the Vandersteen 2c's, Tannoy DMT 12 monitors, Magnepan MMG, MG12 and 1.6's, and many others. I can honestly say that the CG4, Speedwoofer 10 combination is giving me the most satisfying musical reproduction I've yet experienced in my home listening situation. Would I rather have the "megabuck" speaker pair and amp combination of my choice, in the huge room of my choice? --Of course, but, like most of us, I live within a real world budget. At under $1500 for the CG4 monitors and subwoofer, I haven't heard anything else available right now at anywhere near the price range that I'd rather listen to. --Overall, I'd give the CG4's and Speedwoofer 10 a 4 1/2 star rating, and 5 stars in it's price range.

I have taken the time to properly break in the speakers and have listened using both the hi-pass and low-pass connection methods. I have put the speakers through their paces, using CDs, SACDs and vinyl of many genres of music, including classical, jazz, rock, heavy metal and even music beyond any category, with and without vocals. I have listened to the speakers in a smaller space and a large room.

Thanks for making a great sounding speaker system for a very affordable price.

As a high-end acoustics installer I have been able to travel the country and listen to almost every type of speaker and system set-up that is out there. When I first heard the new RSL speaker combination I was blown away. The wall of sound that I heard from such small speakers was comparable to huge high dollar systems. However, I felt the imaging from this system was better than all the others. This speaker system stands on its when it comes to listening, but then you throw in the price and there is no comparison. RSL is crazy, they could easily double the price!
