PREMIUM SOUND FOR THE OUTDOORS

Get Audiophile Quality Sound Outside At An Incredible Price!

If you’re on this site, chances are you’re no stranger to real sound quality. Maybe you already own a great home theater system. However, when you’re outside barbequing or hanging around the pool, do you have to settle for the crummy sound of portable speakers? Does it make you long for smooth, wide range distortion-free sound that makes music satisfying again? In audio/video stores, high quality outdoor speakers can set you back $500-$700 a pair. How about an amazing set of outdoor speakers for about half that price?

Almost 35 years ago RSL introduced the very first high fidelity outdoor speaker, The Outsider. Up until then outdoor speakers were mainly metal or plastic horns that sounded horrible, like an airport P.A. system. The RSL Outsider was a huge success and the start of a revolution.

Now, we’re proud to introduce the next generation, the Outsider II. It combines our decades of speaker experience with factory-direct pricing to shatter our competitors’ price to performance ratio for high end outdoor speakers. The result is better sound than you might think possible at a price we dare anybody to match. The Outsider II achieves such high sound quality that it can be even used indoors in a high-performance home theater system.

My initial response to these Outsider IIs is great. I must echo Joe S on how they sound before they are broken in because that's the phase I am in now. I am not ready to connect them outside YET but since I have the RSL 5.1 package I thought I would play them indoors to get to get them broken in. Love the sound and this is just the first hour I have had them playing. I will update this post after they are broken in. BTW the 5.1s were just ok when I first listened to them, but believe me after they were broken in...WOW!! completely different sound. You gotta love them.

Your pre-season Outsider email just reminded me of this follow up from last year. I received my speakers last year purchased on your season close out sale. I didn't get them installed on the deck until just recently. I tested and broke the speakers in indoors running them beside my other RSL's from the '80's. In particular comparing them to my RSL book shelf speakers from the '80's. "Magnificent's" I believe, and for a book shelf speaker, they truly are. OK, the drivers are 25% - 30% smaller as is the enclosure but allowing for that, I wasn't all that impressed. That's why I didn't respond with a critique right away. However... outside and properly placed, they come to life. These blew my old JBL outside speakers away and are not intimidated at all by a large open area (2 acres of backyard). Just goes to show, trust the experts, the Outsiders are for outdoors and perform in the tradition of RSL speakers, magnificently!

Been looking for a pair of quality outdoor speakers for a few months and went to a few local audio stores in my search. I listened to a lot of inexpensive speakers that sounded flat and hollow and some much more expensive ones that I loved. But just couldn’t pull the trigger on $500 outdoor speakers. So I decided to give the Outsiders a try. Initially I thought they sounded decent. Good clarity and crisp highs, but the low frequencies were a bit tight. Still there, just not as pronounced as others I heard. But in the manual it recommends listening to the speakers for 30+ hours to allow them to break-in. Not thinking much about it, I continued to use them and after about a week I began to notice a significant difference and improvement, especially in the bass. I’ve had them now for a few months and have been really impressed. The sound seems to keep getting better with each use and the bass matches perfectly with quality of the mids and highs. And I’ve found myself listening to music outside almost as much (if not more) that I do inside. Probably because I’m still using some old bookshelf speakers inside that sound completely inferior to the Outsiders. I’ll be buying some indoor speakers from RSL in the near future.
