I went with a full 5.1 system with the CG23m RCL and CG3m for the surrounds and a 10E after figuring out my room size wouldn't need more power. It shipped quickly despite the wildfires and snow storms. UPS failed to deliver for a few days but besides that, it was packed well with no damage. I had everything already wired and setup, so all that was required was the speakers be hooked to the wires and room corrected. In the interim I had my Z-5500 speakers hooked to my Denon S960H receiver. Funnily enough the extra power and thicker 16awg wire did indeed make them sound a bit better. I watched movies and UHD blu-rays with Master Audio to get a good before and after. When the RSLs finally arrive I swapped the speakers out, did the room correction. Then tweaked the settings over the next couple of days. On my Denon I liked the eq set to Flat on the audio and speaker sub menus. Also had Dynamic EQ on but Dynamic Volume off. The Audyssey setup was very accurate. I tweak the levels initially not knowing what I was in for. I started my first movie. Harry Potter. The sound was underwhelming. The sub took some time to fill what I'm guessing are the capacitors and turning on. The sound from them felt marginally better than the Z-5500s hooked to the Denon. I still smiled because there was a fullness to the sound. I watched my movie and then went to bed. I'm not sure at what point the sound became richer and more full, but at certain points I realized, "holy sh*t". Perhaps there is a break-in period, but the sub was so tight and deep. I don't need it to shake my soul but it shakes my house. The satellites are amazing. I set the cross over for the CG23ms @90hz and the CG3ms @100hz. This allows there to be such a seamless sound as the speakers hand over the lower frequencies to the sub. My old setup this was very noticeable and without knowing technically what was happening it was displeasing to my ears. I never feel like the sub is it's own speaker. It just adds to what the CGs are giving me. This is important for immersion. The speakers get loud, Blu-Rays and receivers have 0Dbs as the reference sound, this is VERY loud at home but it is the sound level at a theater. Good speakers at this level will not hurt your ears as it's around 85 actual decibels. On my old set this level would hurt. It was too bright. The RSL speakers sound so clear and normal if that makes sense. Everything I am rewatching just has me so much more engaged. On top of that I am hearing things from the surrounds that I never heard before. It very much mirrors my experience from going to popular V-curve headphones to entry level studio reference headsets. Night and day. I am so happy that I found this company and hope many other people on their journey find these speakers. I smile a lot when I watch movies and shows. These are probably one of the best purchases I've ever made. Thanks for being awesome RSL.
