I've had a few subs in the past from DIY to high end. These RSL 10e's are pretty good all around subs. They are fast, detailed, and just work to fill in the bottom octave. I can easily adjust these to make them sound like an augmentation of my speakers. I can even make them stand out if I want. But.. I prefer a good blend, which I've been able to achieve. I'm not mentioning my speakers because that's likely to change.. but they are 4,k+ speakers connected to 2,k amp, and 2,k preamp. So, not a budget system... but these subs are perfectly fine for me now. I can't compare them directly but I'm satisfied. I will likely upgrade to the 12S at some point, though, to get a little more slam or weight that I like. But, I'm in no rush. These fill a 14x22 room with no problem.
I listen to music only with these subs. I prefer a stereo pair.
I'm sure these would be good in HT applications.
For $300/ea, these are a no-brainer for anyone that wants a sub in the sub-$1,k retail range. Is there better, no, not really, not at this price. Spend 1,k or more and yes, you'll get a little deeper with a little more slam due to higher power and such. There are other technologies out there that might suit your needs better but you'll be in the big money.. and paying for features you may or may not need.
The cabinets look fine at a distance and are price appropriate.. but the white with flecked grill cloth is so nice and modern... at a distance, these look very nice. I have no issues with these subs. Really amazing for the money.
