One Speedwoofer is great. But two Speedwoofers is even better. That’s because two subwoofers have certain advantages over one.
For starters, two subwoofers can provide better bass distribution than one. Room acoustics can cause peaks and valleys in your bass response. In one seat you’re overwhelmed while in another, you may hear almost nothing. With two subs, one will fill in the valleys of another, evening out the distribution. Often, spacing subs apart from each other will achieve this effect (top image).
In addition to improving distribution, dual subs increase output – by a LOT. Two subs placed apart doubles the output with a +3 dB increase at all frequencies. On the other hand, two subs placed together (bottom image) gives you up to a +6 dB increase. That’s FOUR times the output!
